Good Friday: The Embrace
This image is by Nicholas Mynheer. It is entitled 'Mary embraces Judas' mother'. All of us should pause for a good while. See more of his incredibly evocative work here: http://www.mynheer-art.co.uk/
Embrace is not something we associate with Good Friday, although as those words are written, I am drawn immediately to words from the Welsh hymn, On the Mount of Crucifixion penned by William Rees and translated into English by William Edwards: "And Heaven's peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love". Such a notion takes us close to the idea of embrace.
On Good Friday, God embraces us and we in turn embrace him
